For over 700 years Alnwick Castle has been home to the Percy family but more recent history will tell you that it was home to the most famous of wizarding boys that ever lived! Alnwick Castle provided the filming location for the first 2 Harry Potter movies and more recently it has been used for Downton abbey and Transformers dark of the Moon. A visit to the castle can be enjoyed by all and there are a variety of tours and activities available- check the castle website for details and booking information.

The castle grounds and extensive and spread down to the Lion Bridge and pastures which are open for easy walking and picnics by the river Aln. The pastures can be reached easily from the top of the town and once there provide some wonderful uninterrupted views of the castle.

The Alnwick Gardens is a project close the the heart of the Duchess of Northumberland and is an unmissable attraction into a contemporary world of garden design including sculptures, fountains, a cherry orchard, a walled  Poison Garden and a grand cascade with 120 water jets to enjoy up close or from a distance. Coming up on its 20th birthday the Alnwick Garden has grown to be a firm favourite and is a multi award winning attraction that is family friendly and has a broad appeal. It is also home to the worlds biggest treehouse which houses a restaurant and potting shed coffee shop. Its a real adventure and can be enjoyed by all.

The contemporary design is both buggy, wheel chair and mobility scooter friendly.The Garden is also picnic and wet weather friendly for days when the weather is not as kind. There are a variety of food outlets available for a quick bite to eat and a large buffet style restaurant with made to order pizza oven is there to make life that bit easier. For additional entertainment there is a small crazy golf course which will need to be booked when you arrive as its very popular.
